* Identify a group of interested Staff Members / Site Council Members who
will serve as the driving force to present different ideas to the greater
staff presented through a Monthly or weekly Memo. Typically 4 ideas per
month. Selected activities are in the Values in Action! Guide for teachers
and the Bureau of Essential Ethics On Line Newsletter Values in Action The
Best in Ethics Education.
* Have selected students read over intercom or students read in their home
room Monday Memos, Memos are available for each of the 7 core ethical values.
Teachers can require kids to memorize as a requirement for the class.
* Use stories and other selections of literature from the Readers Digest that
present moral dilemmas. Invite students to discuss the decisions and choices
the characters are choosing. Refer to the page in the Values in Action! Guide
regarding the Characters Character.
* Ethic Forum issues can be introduced to students by requiring every student
to stand below one of the 8 signs listed below used for the ethic forums.
Strongly Agree-Agree- Moderately Agree. Strongly Disagree, Disagree,
Moderately Disagree. Still thinking, and Solutions and Strategies. (Several
Ethic Forum Issues are presented in the Guide.)
* Engage Students in a Respect Seminar based on the questions presented in
the Values in Action! Respect section!
* Require each student in your class to submit 3 character references.
* Present lessons on Purpose Driven Lives including the 4 Essential
Relationships and 4 Essential Skills needed to accomplish your purpose in life!
* Require 100 service hours from a students freshman year to their senior
year in school. As a part of the requirement -All freshman must mentor a sixth
grade student in a value based mentor ship for 3 years. Value Based Activities
(VBA) will be available in the Spring of 1999.
